The Cayman Chess Centre is the Cayman Islands' premier venue for chess tournaments, competitive practice and mastering the 'Royal Game'
Tournaments
Regular FIDE-rated classical, rapid and blitz chess tournaments in a dedicated tournament venue
Minimum tournaments per year:
- 5 FIDE-rated classical tournaments
- 9 FIDE-rated rapid tournaments, held monthly except for August, December and January
- 9 FIDE-rated blitz tournaments, held monthly except for August, December and January
- Novice tournaments according to demand
Academy
From early 2027, the Cayman Chess Academy will provide structured chess classes to players of all ages and abilities
Details of courses and schedules will be published in due course and are expected to include:
- Weekly classes for beginners, novices and intermediate players during school term dates
- Classes for advanced players to be arranged in consultation with the players concerned
National Chess Community
Founded by Cayman Islands Chess Federation President, CM Shaun Tracey, the Cayman Chess Centre provides the Cayman Islands with its first ever dedicated chess centre and academy
This will further promote the development of youth and senior players, helping them progress towards chess mastery and enhancing their prospects of representing the country on the international stage

Membership of the Cayman Chess Centre brings the following benefits:
- Discounted and priority entry to tournaments (including FIDE-rated events)
- Exclusive access to weekly club night for competitive practice or friendly games
- Exclusive participation in other events including simultaneous exhibition matches against Masters and Grandmasters
Membership Fees
The quarterly membership fee is:
- KYD 100 for adults
- KYD 75 for juniors (age 18 and below)
Tournament Fees
Typical entry fees per tournament are:
FIDE-rated Classical Tournament - KYD 50 (members) / KYD 75 (non-members)
FIDE-rated Rapid Tournament - KYD 25 (members) / KYD 40 (non-members)
FIDE-rated Blitz Tournament - KYD 25 / KYD 40 (non-members)
Novice tournament - KYD 25 / KYD 40 (non-members)
Pre-registration for Membership
The Cayman Chess Centre will open during the second half of 2026 - exact date to be confirmed
Membership capacity is limited and pre-registration of membership for you or your child is available now on a 'first-come, first-served' basis
Pre-registration does not require payment at this stage - you will be contacted again to finalise your membership shortly before the Cayman Chess Centre opens
